🧠 2. Struktur (Structure): Demonstratives & Existence

Learn how to point to objects and say if something exists or not:

💡 Demonstratives: This / That

Ev = This (near)
Ew = That (far)

Examples:

Ev pîrtuk e. = This is a book.
Ew qelem e. = That is a pen.
Ev çi ye? = What is this?
Ew çi ye? = What is that?

💡 Existence: "heye" (there is) / "tune" (there isn't)

heye = there is / exists
tune = there isn't / doesn't exist

Examples:

Pîrtuk heye. = There is a book. / The book exists.
Qelem tune. = There is no pen. / The pen doesn't exist.
Li vir pênûs heye? = Is there a pencil here?
Na, tune. = No, there isn't.

💡 Asking "Do you have...?"

Pattern: Li te [object] heye?

Examples:

Li te qelem heye? = Do you have a pen?
Erê, heye. = Yes, I have (it).
Na, tune. = No, I don't have (it).
Li te defter heye? = Do you have a notebook?

Li te pênûs heye?
Do you have a pencil?
👤 Student B:
Erê, heye. Ev pênûs e.
Yes, I have. This is a pencil.
👤 Student A:
Spas! Li te defter jî heye?
Thanks! Do you also have a notebook?

Na, defter tune.
No, I don't have a notebook.

A: Li te qelem heye?
(Do you have a pen?)
B: Erê, heye. Ev qelem e.
(Yes, I have. This is a pen.)
A: Spas dikim!
(Thank you!)
Scene 2: Looking for a Notebook
A: Li te defter heye?
(Do you have a notebook?)
B: Na, defter tune. Lê pîrtuk heye.
(No, I don't have a notebook. But I have a book.)
A: Baş e, pirsgirêk nine.
(Okay, no problem.)
Scene 3: Identifying Objects
A: Ev çi ye?
(What is this?)
B: Ev paqij e.
(This is an eraser.)
A: Û ew çi ye?
(And what is that?)
B: Ew kevir e.
(That is a ruler.)
Scene 4: In the Classroom
A: Li vir masê heye?
(Is there a table here?)
B: Erê, masê heye. Û kursî jî heye.
(Yes, there is a table. And there is also a chair.)
A: Gelek baş!
(Very good!)
Scene 5: Borrowing Items
A: Ji kerema xwe, li te pênûs heye?
(Please, do you have a pencil?)
B: Erê, heye. Bi xêr be!
(Yes, I have. You're welcome!)
A: Gelek spas!
(Thank you very much!)

A: Çente min li ku ye?
(Where is my bag?)
B: Çente li ser masê ye.
(The bag is on the table.)
A: Spas! Li hundur pîrtuk heye?

Translation: In my classroom there are many things. Here there is a table and there is also a chair. On the table there are books, notebooks and pens. Inside my bag there are pencils, erasers and rulers. On the blackboard there are colors. This is my classroom and I am happy!
