🧠 2. Struktur (Structure): Possessives & Plurals

Learn how to talk about YOUR family using possessive pronouns:

💡 Possessive Pronouns

min = my
te = your (singular)
= his
= her
me = our
we = your (plural)
wan = their

Examples:

Bavê min = My father
Diya te = Your mother
Birayê wî = His brother
Xwişka wê = Her sister
Malbata me = Our family

💡 Plural Forms

Pattern: Add -an or -ên for plural

Examples:

Bira (brother) → Birayan (brothers)
Xwişk (sister) → Xwişkan (sisters)
Kur (son) → Kuran (sons)
Keç (daughter) → Keçan (daughters)
Zarok = Children (already plural)

💡 Describing Family

Pattern: Li malbata min [number] [family member] hene/heye

Examples:

Li malbata min du bira hene. = In my family there are two brothers.
Li malbata min yek xwişk heye. = In my family there is one sister.
Li malbata min sê zarok hene. = In my family there are three children.

A: Li malbata te çend bira hene?

B: Li malbata min du bira hene. Yek mezin û yek biçûk.
(In my family there are two brothers. One older and one younger.)
A: Xwişk jî heye?
(Do you also have a sister?)
B: Erê, yek xwişk heye.

📚 Theory: Present Tense in Kurdish

In Kurdish (Kurmanji), the present tense is formed by adding the prefix di- before the verb stem and conjugating it with personal endings. The basic pattern is:

Formula: Subject + di + verb stem + personal ending

Personal Endings:

Ez (I) → -m
Tu (You) → -yî
Ew (He/She) → -e or (no ending)
Em (We) → -n
Hûn (You plural/formal) → -n
Ew (They) → -n
