🧠 2. Struktur (Structure): Hebûn (To have/exist) & Demonstratives

Learn how to say what you have and describe objects in your house:

💡 Verb: Hebûn (To have / To exist)

heye = there is / exists (singular)
hene = there are / exist (plural)
tune = there isn't / doesn't exist
nîne = there aren't / don't exist

Examples:

Li malê nivîn heye. = There is a bed in the house.
Li odeya min du kursî hene. = There are two chairs in my room.
Televîzyon tune. = There is no television.
Li vir masê hene. = There are tables here.

Conjugation with Pronouns:

Note: The possessive pronouns are: min (my), te (your), wî (his), wê (her), me (our), we (your pl.), wan (their)

🎯 Exercise 1: Conjugate with Pronouns

Complete these sentences using the correct possessive pronoun + heye/tune:

💡 Demonstratives (Review)

Ev = This (near)
Ew = That (far)
Van = These (near, plural)
Wan = Those (far, plural)

Examples:

Ev mal e. = This is a house.
Ew kursî ye. = That is a chair.
Van masê ne. = These are tables.
Wan wêne ne. = Those are pictures.

Description 1: Sara's House
Sara: Mala min mezin e. Li malê min pênc ode hene. Rûniştvan, du xewngehan, metbex û hemam. Li rûniştvanê televîzyon, masê û çend kursî hene. Li xewngeh nivîn, dolap û çira hene. Ez mala xwe pir hez dikim!
(My house is big. In my house there are five rooms. Living room, two bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom. In the living room there are television, table and several chairs. In the bedroom there are bed, cupboard and lamp. I love my house very much!)
Description 2: Roj's Apartment
Roj: Ez li apartmanekê dijîm. Apartmana min biçûk e lê xweş e. Du ode hene: xewngeha û rûniştvan. Metbex û rûniştvan li hev in. Li xewngeh nivînek mezin heye. Li ser dîwarê wêneyan hene.
(I live in an apartment. My apartment is small but nice. There are two rooms: bedroom and living room. Kitchen and living room are together. In the bedroom there is a big bed. On the wall there are pictures.)
Description 3: Asking About a Room
A: Li odeya te çi heye?
(What do you have in your room?)
B: Li odeya min nivîn, masê û kursî hene. Li ser masê komputer heye.
(In my room there are bed, table and chair. On the table there is a computer.)
A: Televîzyon jî heye?
(Is there also a television?)
B: Na, televîzyon tune. Lê li ser dîwarê wêneyan hene.
(No, there is no television. But on the wall there are pictures.)

Translation: My house is nice. In my house there are four rooms. In the living room there is a big table. On the table there is a lamp. In the bedroom there is a soft bed. On the wall there are pictures. In the kitchen there are cupboards and dishes. I am happy!

🌿 7. Mala Kurdî ya Kevneşopî (Traditional Kurdish House)

Learn about traditional Kurdish houses and their unique features:

🏠 Tîpa Malê (House Type)
Traditional Kurdish houses are often made of stone and mud bricks. They are built to withstand the mountainous climate.
Malên kevneşopî ji ber û qereç çêdibin. Ew ji bo hewaya çiyayan hatine çêkirin.
🔥 Ocax (Fireplace)
The central fireplace (ocax) is the heart of the Kurdish home. Families gather around it for warmth and cooking.
Ocax di navenda malê de ye. Malbat li dora wê kom dibin.
🪟 Bana Jorîn (Upper Floor)
Many traditional houses have two floors. The upper floor (bana jorîn) is used for living, while the lower floor is for animals and storage.
Gelek malên kevneşopî du qat in. Qata jorîn ji bo jiyanê ye.
🎨 Xanî (Guest Room)
The guest room (xanî) is an important space for welcoming visitors. It's decorated with colorful carpets and cushions.

🌳 Baxçe (Courtyard/Garden)
Traditional houses often have a courtyard or garden where families grow vegetables and fruits.

💡 Did you know?

Traditional Kurdish houses are designed to be cool in summer and warm in winter. The thick stone walls provide excellent insulation. Many modern Kurdish homes still incorporate traditional elements like the ocax and decorative carpets.
